the week of "alt mulig"

This weeks madness started as all of us Tromsø/ Finemark (for the elders) traveled down to Trondheim for Zone Conference. It seems like Zone Conference is always timed perfectly for when I need it most. Every time I feel like I start to lose momentum, in the next couple of days we are on the plane and we are welcomed by President and Søster Tew and all of the other missionaries. It is such a good reminder that I am not alone in this work and an amazing experience to learn from them and to have my mind enlightened and my spirit uplifted. One of the major ideas that I took away is how do I want make a difference in the lives of the people in Norway and what kind of example do I want to leave behind. President had everyone stand up who was going to be leaving by this coming August and there were so few that remained sitting. Come August there will be only 30 of the missionaries that are here now still serving. I feel the responsibility to work even harder and become even better not only for the people of Norway but for the missionaries as well. They are all so amazing and essential to this work.I am so blessed to be a part of this mission.

The work commenced as soon as we got on the plane. Søster Neal and I sat in different places and so we were able to talk to the people next to us. I got to talk to a Pilot from Bodø. He was very nice and although he wasn't very interested in finding out if God exists because his life is great now, we had a really good conversation. I have realized that much of the work here is making impressions and building relationships. With no immediate results, it can be easy to get a little impatient, but it is all part of the Lord's time table and it is what these people need.
The next day Søster Neal got sick and then gave it to me. We have hilariously been trying to find the balance between taking care of ourselves and working hard despite of how we feel. We also discovered that what we thought were left behind cough drops in our apartment are mostly cleverly disguised chicken bullion cubes in Ricola wrapping. Who would do such an evil thing?!   Needless to say, it has been a lot of planning, area book work, family history, and naps with contacting and banking sessions in between. We have seen so many miracles though!
- One day we were just trying to tough it out in the cold talking to people we felt inspired to. One lady stopped us asking us where the buss stop was and we were able to help, then we were able to help an Italian lady find the wine store (whoops haha), we saw our friend Daniel on the street heading home and were able to talk with him, and last but not least we talked to this guy from India and gave him a Book of Mormon. It was amazing! Søster Neal and I both turned our heads at the same time and we were like "HIM!"
- The next day, I was a strict mom and I made Søster Neal stay inside because she sounded like she was dying. We went through the area book and called people and got 2 appointments for this week!
- We met this guy again that we met on the buss again randomly from the street. We didn't recognize him at first but he sure recognized us! He was so happy to see us and he asked us if we wanted to grab coffee with him and his greek friends. We then remembered who he was, went with him and traded coffee for hot chocolate, and met his friends and taught them a lot about what we do as missionaries and what we believe in. Later that day we gave a Book of Mormon to a man that is very religious and is going to meet with us in two weeks!
That is about as much as time allows. I am so grateful to be a part of this work and for all of the people that we are led to everyday. This truly is the Lord's work!
I love you all! Have a great week!
Love, Søster Starkie
