The Lord worketh in me to do according to his will, Words of Mormon 1:7
This week Sister Rawson and I were called as STLs (Sister Training Leaders) for our branch. When we were extended this calling we were astonished. I immediately thought of all of the Swedish Sisters in our Branch that are so much more outgoing and that clearly would be better suited for be-friending and checking up on the girls of our branch. Sister Rawson and I shared a look of both panic mingled with excitement and then accepted the call. Looking back on it now, having been an STL for only 5 days, I am so grateful for this calling. Sister Rawson and I had a bit of a trial by fire experience as one of our girls got sick and had to go to the ER the night after we were assigned, and then as another Sister sprained her foot badly at exercise time on Monday. Despite these problems, I have received so much joy as a result of helping the Sisters in the Branch and in getting to know them better. We have a total of 30 Sisters in our Branch with 5 more on the way next week. I am so excited to be one of the first people to welcome in the new Sisters!
With this new calling, and especially with being a missionary I have been constantly striving to do Heavenly Father's will and become the person that he wants me to be. One scripture that was really a comfort to me this past week was, Words of Mormon 1:7. It talks about how Heavenly Father knows everything which is to come, and how he will work though us, by the power of the Holy Ghost, to do his will. I also have been reading in Mosiah recently about Abinidai. There is a part where King Noah's guards are about to take Abinidai away to be killed, but Abinidai says to touch him not for he has not yet fulfilled his purpose and that " God will not suffer that I should be destroyed at this time". Now I am not saying that I will be destroyed on my mission. But these scriptures told me that I can fulfill God's will of who he wants me to speak to and say what he would want me to say through the Holy Ghost. AND that if it is his will he will not let that golden opportunity to be lost or "destroyed". Heavenly Father is so powerful and all-knowing. I am so grateful that I have him on my side.
Funny thoughts/events from this past week:
- The word for "the members" in Norwegian is Medlemmene. It sounds exactly like the muppets song and I told my class about it. The teachers thought it was hilarious and our class sang the muppets song for a couple of seconds.
- I accidentally said "whatever" to our investigator during one of our lessons. It went like this. Him:"so you want me to read this verse" Me:(wanting to say, "If you want") " yeah, whatever.
- Sister Rawson and I had a chips and salsa girl night with the Swedish Sisters. We went through 3 bags of chips and 2 things of Salsa. It was so much fun! No regrets!
That's pretty much it for this week! I love you all!
Most of our Branch at the Provo temple this morning.
We found bite marks on one of the Norwegian hymn books this past week. Someone has been taking "feast on the words of Christ" a little too literally, haha.
Me with a package from my Mum. I received four packages this past week! I feel so blessed!
Hot Chocolate! I left some hot cocoa mix in the pantry at home and my mum sent it back to me.
