Spring is in the air and Bananas are on the trees!
This past week Søster Belus and I were pretty spoiled because we got to go to first transfer training with all of the "greenies". It was so much fun because I got to see my MTC group, meet the newest missionaries, go to the Palace in Oslo, watch the best two years, and eat twice my weight in food! We are so spolied here in the Norway mission! I am so grateful to be a missionary here!
We also went on splits with our STLs in Drammen. Despite spring being on it's way, it was about -15 degrees thanks to a Siberian Cold front moving in. Drammen is also colder because it is more in land whereas Ålesund is on the coast.
OPPLEVELSER for denne uken:
-We met with Silje again and went through the baptismal interview questions with her. Unfortunately, we have to push her baptismal date back because she hasn't been able to get work off these last couple of Sundays and an investigator has to come a certain amount of times before they can get baptised. Her testimony of the gospel is so strong and she really is doing the best that she can with two jobs with a really strict timeplan and trying to save up for college.
-We met with Aurimas again on Saturday and taught him about prophet. He still doesn't quite grasp the idea of a loving Heavenly Father existing and how he can communicate to him through prayer. We bore testimony that Heavenly Father answers prayers and that he wants to hear from him personally. The Holy Ghost was so strong as we invited and taught him how to pray. I am really looking forward to our next visit.
-I went bus contacting for the first time while in Drammen on splits! My very first person that I talked to was this kind of creepy old man that asked if he could sit by a beautiful young lady. Haha.. we talked a little bit about Mormons Bok, but he just wanted to talk about his ex girlfriend from Colorado. The second person I talked to was much better though! I was praying so hard to find someone that I could talk to and that needed the gospel. I felt the prompting to stand up at the next stop, and sit next to girl that I saw before on our other bus. THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES. I asked her what kind of candy bar she was eating and she just gave me one out of the blue. She told me that she was studying cooking to cook on a boat that travels around Norway, or at least that's what I got from my understanding of Norwegian at this point. In my defense, Drammen has a very different dialect from what I am used to here in Ålesund. I gave her the only thing I had, which was a pass along card and invited her to visit the church and meet with the missionaries in Drammen. I don't know what will become of it, but I really feel like I was in the right place at the right time.
-Last night we went Banking and we gave out 4 MB and got a call from missionaries in St. George with a referral! I am so excited to go and visit him. He wants to get a MB and learn about where he came from. He seems very positive. There are people everywhere that are being prepared for the Gospel.
-We went to a DeVold clothing museum last P-day! It was really cool seeing all of the old machines that they had out! It is very different from anything I have seen in America because they just have all of these old things out like type writers, fabric samples, and record books that you can touch. All of the signs were in Ny Norsk so I didn't learn a whole lot.
-We found a tree in Ålesund with Bananas on it. We tried asking someone about it but they rolled their eyes and walked away. They were probably just having a bad day.
-We saw people playing AMERICAN FOOTBALL and I was a creeper and took a picture. Football isn't very common here.
I love you all and I hope that you have a great week! I leave you with my testimony that Heavenly Father cares about every single one of you personally and he really does answer prayers!
