An adventure in Hønefoss

Søster Morris and I started out this week by fasting for one new investigator. It is amazing to look back on this past week and recognize that Heavenly Father blessed us with so much more.

On Monday we met Niko in Rema1000 as we were grocery shopping. We had met him the week before at a bus stop and set up a meeting with him for this week. He told us that he had lost his phone but that he still remembered where and when we were meeting. Knowing that he had lost his phone earlier in the week was a tender mercy, because we usually text people in the morning to confirm our appointments with them and if they don't respond, we plan something else for that time. Søster Morris and I waited outside the Library for him for about 10 minutes because he told us that he was coming two days earlier and he came! He was also able to come to fotbol and to meet some of the members there!

On Thursday we were able to meet with Iselin, the lady that I talked to on the bus one of the first days that I was in Asker. She is now done with her exams and had a little time to meet. Søster Morris and I were able to explain the Book of Mormon a little bit more to her and show her the promise that it gives everyone. She believes in Jesus Christ and is very open to reading more about him and finding out if the Book of Mormon is true. I am amazed at how sincere she is from just the two short times that I have met her.

On Friday, Søster Morris, the Elders, and I took a buss out to Hønefoss to visit some members and Brother Gonzales and his friends. Søster Morris and I baked snickerdoodles the night before and we were prepared to do some service at a members house, drop off some cookies at other members houses, and then teach Louis, one of brother Gonzales' friends. Little did we know that God had another plan. After walking on the side of a highway to get to Vigdis' house, we discovered that we had the wrong address and that no busses were expected to come for another two hours. We decided to make the best of our situation and we banked on the two houses that were right there. They didn't answer, so we left a plate of cookies and a pass-a-long card. Then we looked across the road at a man who was painting a white house. It was the only other house in the area. Søster Morris and I looked at each other and had the same thought. There was a reason why we got lost in the middle of nowhere, and this man just might be that reason. We walked up to his house and talked to him about his relationship with God. When he learned what church we came from, he opened up and told of of his experience in Utah at the Visitor's Center in Temple Square. He talked about the Christ statue and how it was hard to hold the tears back as he thought about what it symbolized. We were able to give him a Mormons Bok. Unfortunately, he didn't live there and was just restoring his childhood home, but I know with a surety that we were supposed to meet him that day and invite him to read more of god's word. Later that day, we were able to meet with Louis, one of brother Gonzales' friends, and we had a really good lesson.

I am so grateful that with God's help we are able to make a positive difference in other people's lives and that he is so willing to bless us with the mirakles we ask for! Søster Morris and I fasted for one new investigator and we got three! It reminds me of our scripture for this transfer. It is D&C 35:8. It says "For I am God, and mine arm is not shortened; and I will show miracles, signs, and wonders, unto all those who believe on my name." Heavenly Father is able to bless us so much if we do our part and have faith.

Other things that happened this week:
-I fell over on a buss! Typisk! jeg vet!
-Søster Morris and I made a chocolate cheesecake!
- The peonies are all blooming here and we can't help but take pictures with them!
