8 MONTHS IN?!

Hello everyone! This week my happy state of denial was shattered a little bit as I realized that I have been on a mission for 8 months and almost halfway done! Time really does fly when you are having fun! I can't think of another time in my life where I have been more happy! I have been reminded over and over again of the end of the First Presidencies Statement in Preach My Gospel  "The Lord will reward and richly bless you as you humbly and prayerfully serve Him. More happiness awaits you than you have ever experienced as you labor among His children."  That promise  is so true!

Sorry for the lack of an email this last week. I will try and recall some events from then as well from this week. I am starting to think that these emails are more like memory exercises!

-These past two weeks we have met with Thomas twice each week. He has a lot of really good questions and he is very open to learning about the gospel. The Drammen ward here is amazing and we have been able to have a member on every teach. Their testimonies are so powerful and I can tell that their own life experiences relate to Thomas so well. On one teach last week we were able to bring a couple and it turns out that the husband suffers with the same disease that Thomas has. Søster Whetten and I didn't know this before hand and it was evidence to us that this couple was meant to be there with us. Thomas is slowly becoming more genuinely interessted in receiving an answer from God. I know that we were supposed to find him and I can't help but to think that he was prepared for us to come and teach him. We took some no bake cookies to him yesterday and we got to meet his son Erik!

- We met President and Søster Tew last week and had zone conference with them this week! They are both wonderful and so ready to jump right in to missionary work! On their second night here, they went kontakting with missionaries and they told us that it was going to be a regular thing for them. I am going to go on splits with Søster Tew! So excited! She is amazing!

- Drammen is so great and we do a lot of member work here! The members are always so willing to help us and it is great to see how converted they are to the gospel. We have been over to May Britt's house a couple of times and she shared with us her great conversion story and let us hold her kittens. Her house is also BEAUTIFUL!

-We got some rain this past week and Søster Whetten and I stood out in it and soaked it up!

-We lost our phone for a day and so we had to walk around sentrum at 9 in the morning asking people if we could use theirs. Everything worked out and we were able to confirm all of our appointments for the day. The Elders saved us and were able to call our phone, track it down, and get it back to us by the end of the day.

-There was also another adventure that we had last week where I was deeply immersed in a converstation with an old lady and I didn't see Søster Whetten get off of the buss. I rode the buss all the way to the top of the hill, got off, noticed she wasn't there, and flagged down someone so that I could call her on our phone. She was already half-way up the hill and had already called our district leader and told him that she had lost me. Haha... I haven't lived down that one yet. A member also drove by and saw her walking by herself and so now we have a little inside joke with him. Always an adventure with Søster Starkie!:)

I am sure that there was a lot more that happened this week, but that was all of the important things that I can remember. We have met a lot of really neat people on the buss and got in kontakt with some former investigators this past week. I hope they will be able to meet with us in the future. If not, at least they have a positive experience with the church and maybe will be ready later.

I love you all so much and I hope that you are having a great summer and making a lot of memories that you can treasure later in life!
Vi snakkes!
Love, Søster Starkie
